Subject: Cannon Air Force Base Low Altitude Terrain Navigation Proposal

  Dear Community Leaders,
As you may be or may not be aware, Cannon AFB in Clovis, New Mexico is proposing a "Low Altitude Terrain Navigation" training area that reaches across New Mexico and Colorado.  In Colorado this training area stretches from Conejos County in the southeast to Montezuma County in the southwest and Mesa County in the northwest to Park County in the northeast.  The purpose of this training area is to allow C-130 cargo aircraft and CV-22 transport aircraft to fly 200 feet above the ground over this area (primarily at night).
The full impact of this proposal should be gauged by the constituents who are impacted and their elected representatives.  The public comment period for this proposal is ongoing and a final decision will be made this December.  The electronic version of the proposal can be found here: http://www.cannon.af.mil/shared/media/document/AFD-110909-039.pdf

A map of the proposed training area can be found here: http://www.cannon.af.mil/shared/media/document/AFD-110908-041.pdf
