Negative campaign

If you hear things about me that make you think "I just can't believe that about J Paul!" please check the source.

And if you see accounts that I've said something that makes you say, "That's not like J Paul," you're probably right.

Campaigns are no longer in the hands of candidates. Campaign finance law, primarily the McCain Feingold Campaign Finance Act, has moved election campaigns into the hands of anyone with money. Organizations called 527s, for the clause of the tax code that governs their activities, are free to accept and spend unlimited money for political campaigns.

While candidates and their campaigns are strictly limited, 527s are allowed to say just about anything without revealing who they are, without the sanction of good manners, and without having to prove the truth of their assertions. All they have to do is state the name of the organization presenting the advertisement.

It can take years to track down the location of a 527 and even longer to discover the identities of its donors, but the damage has done, the election is long over.

So if you have questions about my campaign for House District 59 State Representative, please call me at 759-4157 or e mail brownjpaul@yahoo.com or check www.jpaulbrown.com.

I am accountable, and I want to visit with you.

Lamb Donation

Thanks so much to both of you for your generous donation of a lamb and processing for the Kiwanis Annual Pancake Breakfast Silent Auction.  The event will be held this Thursday from 7am until 7pm at the LaPlata County Fairgrounds.  Your donation will help the club with it's funding of organizations and events benefiting LaPlata County's children.  Below is the "write up" that you can feel free to "edit"......

One Colorado grass fed lamb just coming down out of the mountains, born spring 2010.  This is an animal in pristine condition with no additives, fed by "mama" and the great grass of southwest Colorado mountains.....available after processing, first part of November.

The donation of a spring lamb is made by J. Paul Brown, resident and candidate for House Seat 59, Colorado State Representative.

The donation of processing is a generous contribution by Sunnyside Meats

Club 20 Debate

I felt real good about the debate in Grand Junction on Saturday. We discovered some very interesting beliefs of my opponent:
He favors the Cap and Trade Bill known as the Cap and Tax bill which will significantly raise prices to consumers on electricity, gasoline, and other energy needs. It will also raise transportation costs so food prices and everything else will go up. I oppose this bill!
He favors Obamacare which will destroy our health care system, will cost Colorado $1B, will create a monstrous new federal bureaucracy, and will ultimately result in the rationing of health care among many other problems. I oppose Obamacare!
He favors the misnamed Clean Water Restoration Act which will allow the federal government to come on private property any time they want. I oppose this bill!

He is a liberal Democrat that is trying to run as a conservative and he has a lot of money, more than 70% which comes from outside Colorado (let's show the Democrats that they can't buy this election).

We are in the home stretch! Please do all you can to help me and other conservatives take back Colorado and our Nation. Thanks, J.Paul

Endorsements

Yesterday we received the endorsements of the Colorado Contractors Association and the Lincoln Club of Colorado. We are very appreciative of this support for our campaign. I put signs out and talked to voters in Archuleta County yesterday as well as attended the 912 meeting at Bayfield with speakers Scott Tipton Republican candidate for Congress and Walker Stapleton Republican candidate for State Treasurer, both very good men! We must have a Republican victory in November to turn this Country back to the founding principles that have sustained us for so many years!

in rigteousness, that the man may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

"I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I travelled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer." --Benjamin Franklin
