House of Representatives Recognizes National Agriculture Day
DENVER—This morning, the General Assembly recognized the many contributions Colorado's farmers and ranchers have had on our state by passing House Joint Resolution 1015. The resolution's House sponsor is state Rep. Jerry Sonnenberg who is a farmer and chair of the House Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resources Committee.   "Colorado's farmers and ranchers have played a vital role in the development of our great state," said Sonnenberg.  "The agricultural community is also playing a leading role in getting our state out of this recession."           The state's agricultural industry is the second largest industry in Colorado, generating over $20 billion of the state's total economic production.   "I am proud that the General Assembly understands the important role that Colorado's agricultural industry has on our state," said state Rep. J. Paul Brown, R-Igancio, who is a rancher.   House Joint Resolution 1015 passed the House with unanimous support.  The measure was carried in the state Senate by Sen. Gail Schwartz, D-Snowmass Village.
